On our left we see Studio E, a.k.a.
"the mono studio". The was a big old GE board in
there, dark bluish-gray with big smooth black knobs and what
seemed like a hundred buttons running across the top.
Through the window lies the room where the worst of the
audition process was carried out- "Phase Three" -
a simulated live on-air experience where an engineer in the
studio ran your board and sometimes deliberately screwed
things up to see how you'd react.
