back room where John Bunkfeldt, our chief engineer, held his class to prepare for "Phase Four" of
the audition. Phase Four was a written engineering test where you had to explain
how a stereo signal got from a record to someone's radio, for example, in addition to lots of questions about
regulations, transmitter readings, and a 'practical' where you ran an EBS
test on-air and took readings. I still have it. Behind us in the hall was a small production room with the
newer Revox tape decks in it. I thought they were so modern.
