Sara Watkins On Mountain Stage

Sara Watkins makes her first-ever solo appearance on Mountain Stage, recorded live on the campus of Ohio University in Athens. Watkins has visited the show seven times over the years as part of various groups and projects — including Nickel Creek, the best-selling progressive acoustic band she helped found.

Watkins' latest album, Sun Midnight Sun, was born out of her desire to branch out creatively with a different cast of musicians. The resulting record features contributions by Fiona Apple and Jackson Browne, and finds Watkins hovering between pop and rock while holding firm to her home in roots music.

This performance includes the album highlight "I'm a Memory," as well as an intense performance of "You're the One I Love," which was not heard in the radio broadcast. Watkins is followed by Mountain Stage pianist Bob Thompson, with the classic tune "After You're Gone."
