Syracuse to Face Unbeaten Toledo on Wednesday

CUSE.com

Syracuse (4-0, 0-0) continues to roll as they look ahead to their next matchup in the Hoophall Miami Invitational against the Toledo Rockets (3-0, 0-0) on Wednesday.

The undefeated Orange took care of business on Monday when they defeated Oakland 74-50. Sophomore guard Tyus Battle continues to shine, scoring 25 points against the Golden Grizzlies. Frank Howard added 18 points of his own, a career high, along with six assists.

Defense and an interior presence continues to be a focal point, as the team recorded 15 blocks and 12 steals on Monday. Syracuse was also able to hold Oakland to only 18-of-59 from the floor.

Syracuse, however, will face stiff competition come Wednesday when they take on a Toledo team that has yet to loose, marking their best start since the 2013-14 season when they won their first 12 games.

SU versus Toledo starts at 7:00. Countdown to Tipoff begins at 6:30, only on 88.3 FM WAER.

Toledo is coming into the game also off a victory against Oakland. The Orange will have their work cut out for them as they try to neutralize star guard Jaelan Sanford, who is coming off a 26 point performance. Other notable Rockets include senior guard Tre’Shaun Fletcher and Luke Knapke, who recorded his first career double-double last game with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Following Wednesday’s game, Syracuse will face their first power-five opponent in Maryland as part of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge on November 27.
