The Syracuse Orange lost to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in a high scoring game by a score of 64-43.
Wake Forest kicked off the scoring with 10:30 to go in the first quarter after a three-yard rush touchdown by QB John Wolford.
The Orange responded on their next offensive series, converting on 4th and 2. Dontae Strickland rushed for a 43-yard touchdown and Cole Murphy’s kick was good, tying the game 7-7.
The Demon Deacons struck again late in the first quarter, making the score 20-14 after a 31 yard pass from Wolford to Cam Serigne.
The Orange struck first early in the second quarter on a one yard rushing touchdown by Chris Elmore. Minutes later they took their first lead of the game on a 30-yard pass from QB Zack Mahoney to Steve Ishmael that put the Orange up 27-21.
Ravian Pierce caught an 18-yard touchdown pass from Mahoney making the score 37-21 Orange. Murphy’s kick made it 38-21.
The Demon Deacons chipped at the Orange lead in the second half with a made field goal, which got them to within 11.
Cole Murphy responded with a made field goal, making the score 41-27. This was Murphy’s 58th made field goal of his Syracuse career, the most all-time.
John Wolford ran the ball nine yards into the end zone for a Wake Forest touchdown. Weaver’s extra point was good, which made the score 34-41 Syracuse. Wake Forest cut the lead to one after a 19-yard touchdown pass from Wolford to Serigne.
Kayton Samuels blocked the kick for the Orange and Scoop Bradshaw returned it to the end zone, extending Syracuse’s lead to 43-40.
Wake Forest retook the lead and extended it, making the score 54-43 after a six yard passing touchdown from Wolford to Serigne.
The Demon Deacons added on to their lead after a 76-yard rushing touchdown by Matt Colburn II, putting Wake Forest up 64-43.
Syracuse will play their next game at Louisville Saturday, November 18th at 3:30 p.m.
