Cora Thomas
Office Manager & Gospel Music Announcer
Born
and raised in Syracuse, Cora Thomas began working at
Syracuse University in 1988. She moved around campus a bit
before her passion for music drew her to WAER. Cora has
been a radio personality for more than 20 years, and has
created and produced her own gospel show for the last 19
years. She has worn many hats in her eleven years at the
station, including office supervisor, building facilitator,
volunteer coordinator, and event planner. While holding
these positions she oversaw the Volunteer Executive Board
and brought several successful artists to Syracuse,
including: Tramaine Hawkins, Ricky Dillard, Beverly
Crawford, Rodney Posney, and the One Church Tour which
featured Kurt Carr, Smokey Norful, Vicki Yohe, Rizen, James
Fortune and FIYA. In the future she hopes to bring Michael
Jordan and Richard Smallwood to the community. In addition
to her involvement at WAER Cora is also committed to the
greater Syracuse community. She has planned numerous events
for the community, including fashion shows and breakfasts,
served as the Host/Mistress of Ceremonies for several
events, was the Mass Choir Coordinator at SU's Martin Luther
King Birthday Celebration, and currently serves on a number
of community committees.
Cora currently hosts the Sunday Morning Gospel show which
airs Sunday mornings from 6-8 on WAER.
