Where were you born and raised?
I was born and raised in Queens, NY and then moved to
Manhasset Hills, NY on Long Island when I was 6. No
brothers...no sisters...just my parents and little old me.
When did you begin working at WAER?
I actually began working at WAER in the fall of 1990
during my sophomore year of college at SU. I worked my way
into the sports department where I spent the better part
of three years.
What do you do at WAER?
As the music director of the station...it is my job to
sort through all of the music that comes to the station
each and every day and then listen and review each
individual CD to determine if it will have a home on the
WAER airwaves. I am also the afternoon music announcer
weekdays from 1-4.
What was the most unusual job you ever had?
Probably the night I got to work as a production
assistant for CBS television in the middle of Times Square
on New Year's Eve...it was crazy....it was cold...and it
was pure CHAOS.
Why do you love public radio?
I guess the biggest reason I love public radio is the
connection between the station and our listeners....it
really rings true that our listeners and members are the
foundation of WAER. Getting the opportunity to interact
with listeners on a daily basis over the phone and then
meeting them face to face during a membership drive or
station event is especially rewarding.
What are your hobbies?
Being a sports fan...I love getting the chance to catch
a live game whenever I can....listening to music
(obviously...it's my job)...running or just cozying up
with a good mystery novel.
What is your favorite quote?
"A pessimist sees the
difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the
opportunity in every difficulty" - Sir Winston Churchill
