Where were you born and raised?
I
was born in Rochester, NY and raised in a small town
South of Rochester known now as 'The Falls'.
I
graduated SUNY Morrisville studying electronics and
earning licenses, permits, and certifications. You know?
I'm still studying electronics.
When did you begin working at WAER?
In
the Fall of '81. I moved to Syracuse for the warmer
weather.
What do you do at WAER?
'Pay
no attention to that man behind the curtain' :-D
What was the most unusual job you ever had?
I
had a summer job between semesters working at a food
processing plant in Avon, NY. They made French cut green
beans. My job was to shovel up any beans that fell off
the conveyers and put them in the dumpsters. I threw
away more green beans than I could eat in a life time,
and I like green beans. It was a couple years before I
could eat green beans again. Of course I enjoy them now.
Why do you love public radio?
As a
kid I listened to a lot of the Big AMs, WRVA, WBT, WBZ,
KMOX and later WLS, Barney Pitt on WCFL, WOWO, CKLW,
CHUM, and many others.
My
first 'paying' radio job was weekend board op at WVOR
before the fire. Then up to the 8th floor of Midtown
Tower for a full time gig at WBBF. After a fast paced 2
1/2 years at 'BBF, I headed for my first Chief's job. It
was ummmm trial by fire. After the Mom & Pop station was
sold, I landed at SU Audio Services and got 'migrated'
to WAER via AVSS, Video Svcs, & FCMS.
What
I like about Public Radio is the 'Hype'. There isn't
any.
What are your hobbies?
Tinkering with LBCs (little British cars) and my Dad's

What is your favorite quote?

odometer, stone chips in the paint, and dead bugs on the
windshield!" -- Glen on the Wedge List
