In June, 2001 Chris Bolt, WAER News Director, was awarded Outstanding Feature Story by the New York Broadcasters Association for his story about the Carousel Center.

"Nation's Biggest Mall" aired in February.
  Our Music Director Eric Cohen was named Jazz Programmer of the Year 2001 by Gavin Magazine.
Marie Lamb, our morning announcer, recently won the Don Jensen Award given every year by the Association of North American Radio Clubs (ANARC), which is an umbrella organization representing most of the radio listening clubs in the U.S.A. and Canada. The clubs include listeners to shortwave broadcasting stations, scanners, long-distance AM/FM/TV, etc. and represent thousands of North American radio hobbyists. The award is given to a person who has distinguished themselves in their work to promote the radio listening hobby.
