A New York nonprofit is pushing to give R-ratings to movies that feature smoking.

The group, Reality Checkraises awareness about the harmful effects of cigarettes and other nicotine products. During Smoke-Free Movies International Week of Action, youth members of the organization watched films without tobacco products featured and created flyers for Syracuse's Institute in Technology to educate their peers about the dangers of smoking.

The annual event week is held every year during the same time frame as the Academy Awards. The group believes this is the best time for the event so greater awareness can be acknowledged abouttobacco use in motion films.
