An annual fundraiser for suicide prevention Friday will feature a specialty brew and a very important food truck.
Rob Helfrich said the mobile eatery was a favorite of his late son Zach.
"When Zach was alive, I'd often bring him down with me especially when the Bold Coast Lobster Truck is here because he was a bit of a foodie, and he loved his lobster rolls," Helfrich said.
Zach died by suicide in 2019. His father Rob started a memorial fund in his name to benefit the Psychiatry High Risk Program at Upstate Medical University and is having its annual fundraiser at W-T Brews in Baldwinsville. Helfrich hopes the event will provide awareness to both parents and children. He urges all to seek help when needed, especially now that a new national hotline makes it easier to get connected to a helpful voice.
"If there are kids out there going through a hard time just dial 9-8-8 and talk to somebody about it, I mean it's anonymous," Helfrich said.
The event goes from 5 to 8 p.m. and will feature the Zach Attack 4 Life New England Double IPA.
