Wanna Jazz it up in Syracuse Wednesday Night?

John Smith/ WAER News

City of Syracuse residents will get together for an annual Summer Tradition tonight… 'Jazz in the City' returns!  The location is a bit different from previous years when concerts were held in City Neighborhoods.  Speaking to us recently at the New York State Fair, Producer Steve Becker says he’s noticed something that’s happening all-around tonight’s concert venue in Perseverance Park.

“There’s actually a neighborhood forming down there; several thousand people living and, of course, a lot of people working down there, as well. So, we’re gonna be holding that. We’ve got some great Jazz including the Donna Alford Jazz Band.”

Other acts who will be performing include Notify and the K-C ‘Cuse Line Dancers. Becker says Downtown Syracuse businesses, organizations and artists will also be on hand tonight, along with vendors. Jazz in the City will be held tonight from 5:30 to 8:30 PM at the Corner of Fayette and Salina Streets. The event is FREE.

John Smith has been waking up WAER listeners for a long time as our Local Co-Host of Morning Edition with timely news and information, working alongside student Sportscasters from the Newhouse School.
