The lowered national gas price this year comes as a relief from last year’s ultimate highs in pricing.

Syracuse motorists are seeing gas prices level off after months of declines.

The average price of gas stayed around $3.17 a gallon in GasBuddy.dot.com’s latest survey of the Syracuse area. That’s about 47 cents lower than a year ago.

Meanwhile, the national average price dipped around a nickel – which could push our prices lower in the near future.

Their analysts credit low oil prices and seasonal shifts in driving demand, which is lower in winter.

Gas Buddy’s senior petroleum analyst argues the upcoming election and political policies do not have much influence on gas prices.
