The Syracuse Orange (8-6, 1-2) returned to conference play last game with an 88-87 loss to Notre Dame. The Orange remain above .500 overall on the season, but fell below .500 in conference play. They will look to turn things around against Virginia Tech (10-4, 1-2) Monday at the Dome.
The Orange will be going the rest of the season without power forward, Robert Braswell, as he was ruled out for the rest of the season with a shin injury. Braswell was Boeheim’s seventh man to go to off the bench behind Guerrier. Without Braswell going forward, expect more playing time for Howard Washington and Brycen Goodine coming off the bench to replace the production of Braswell. Bourama Sidibe will also experience more playing time on the court at center.
Virginia Tech is coming to Syracuse after a 65-39 loss to UVA. Syracuse also fell to UVA the first game of the season 48-32.
Syracuse put up a strong showing last time out and nearly pulled off a win against a consistent Notre Dame team. With Georgia Tech coming to town and Syracuse’s bench a little thinner, Coach Boeheim will look for more production out of his top scorer Elijah Hughes. Hughes will continue to look for support from Buddy Boeheim and Joe Girard III.
