Georgetown (5-8, 2-3 BIG EAST) scored a pair of late goals, but No. 3 Syracuse (10-3, 4-1 BIG EAST) stifled the charge and held on for a 9-8 win against the Hoyas Saturday, April 20 in front of 2,736 fans at Multi-Sport Field. The win closed the book on a grueling stretch of five games in two weeks for the Orange. Syracuse went 4-1 over that period, but each game went down to the wire and was decided by a single tally.
Overall, the Georgetown game was SU's eighth one-goal decision this season, the most of any team in the nation. Junior Derek Maltz and senior JoJo Marasco led the Orange with three points each. Maltz scored two goals and was credited with one assist, while Marasco finished with one goal and two assists. Senior Luke Cometti added two goals in the victory.
