SU Lacrosse to the Final Four

Citrus TV Sports

Top-seeded Syracuse Lacrosse beat Yale 7-6 in the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals to advance to the Final Four in Philadelphia. The Orange plays 4-seed Denver Saturday at 5 PM for the right to play in the Championship game on Memorial Day.
The Orange jumped out to a 4-goal lead in the 1st quarter with help by junior attack Derek Maltz, who had 2 goals. But then the 'Cuse was held scoreless for a stretch of over 43 minutes and allowed Yale to take a 6-4 lead in the 4th quarter.

Syracuse was resilient, however, and chopped away at the lead. Goals by sophomore Kevin Rice and senior Luke Cometti tied the game back up at 6 with less than a minute left in the game. Then, when the Bulldogs had the ball, 'Cuse goalie Dominic Lamolinara came up with a timely save that gave SU possession back.

Then, with 13 seconds left, senior captain JoJo Marasco found Dylan Donahue wide open in front of the net for the go-ahead goal to give the Orange a 7-6 lead. That would be the final and propel SU to its first Final Four since 2009, and 27th all-time in school history.

SU takes on Denver (14-4) for the right to either play Cornell or Duke in the Championship game. Our coverage of the Orange and Pioneers starts Saturday at 4:30 with Countdown to Face-off. Then the game gets underway at 5 PM right here on 88.3 FM, WAER!
