Talkback: Ep 15: Delay of Game

The fifteenth episode of Talkback comes less than three weeks before the National Hockey League restarts its season. Two NHL voices—Jim Jackson of the Philadelphia Flyers and Steve Goldstein of the Florida Panthers—join the podcast to break down the sport's return in Canadian bubble cities.

Jim Jackson is the voice of the Flyers on television and a 1985 Syracuse alum. The Utica native's team is one of the top four squads in the Eastern Conference. In his conversation with Corey Spector, Jackson takes us inside the minds of the players and remembers calling one of the biggest upsets in Syracuse football history.

Steve Goldstein, the TV announcer for the Panthers, graduated from SU in 1991. His Panthers will play on the first day of the NHL's restart in a five-game qualification round. Goldstein talks with Gill Gross about how hockey players' mentalities affect their decision to play and how his time at Syracuse shaped his future in the NHL.

Kevin Kloss is proud to serve as the Content and Operations Manager at WAER Syracuse Public Media. In addition to managing content for broadcast and digital distribution he also oversees the Sports department at WAER and their coverage of Syracuse University athletics. He also plays an important role as the lead producer for several of the station’s flagship programs including Syracuse Speaks and City Limits.
