Want to Work for Jimmy Buffett ?

John Smith / WAER News

Some Central New Yorker’s are leaping into the New Year hoping to land a new job in a pretend warmer setting at a themed restaurant.  Many applicants are getting a sneak peak of Margaritaville at Destiny USA before the plastic wrap is even removed from the pelican’s and other props.  Manager Mike Griswald says they’re looking for everything from Bartenders, Servers and Line-cooks to Retail Cashiers.

“The bottom line is we’re looking to hire great people. We can mold people into what we’re looking for. They just have to have the personality, that flair. Ya know, really be able to sell the experience.  ‘Cause really, you come into a Margaritaville for escape as in for the vacation for the tropical paradise.”

The applicants are told on the spot whether they will be one of 200 employees or not.  The holiday rush is over and Destiny USA Marketing Director Sara Wallace says that can mean seasonal jobs coming to a close, but sometimes it leads to permanent positions.  However, she already knows of additional job openings in 2015.

"Jared on our first level, they should be hiring probably springtime. Michael’s on our second level, the arts and crafts store, they will be hiring. It’s a huge store.”

Wallace says the mall also has some current openings at guest services and those interested can stop by. Margaritaville will hold one more day of job screenings on Tuesday, January 6th from 9AM to 4 PM. The restaurant is aiming for an early February opening.
