The future of live event venues in Central New York is uncertain at best as limits on gatherings continue to keep them from fully reopening.  Sen. Chuck Schumer says there’s bipartisan support to include $10 billion in the next COVID-19 relief bill for music and theater venues.

Senator Chuck Schumer is urging the U.S. Navy to name a ship after a top naval officer born in Oswego.  Senior Chief Petty Officer Shannon Kent was raised in Dutchess County, and left college to join the Navy in the footsteps of her father and uncle.   Schumer made his remarks on the senate floor.

A group of local activists gathered outside the Federal building on this Christmas Eve to voice their displeasure about President Trump’s proposed border wall and the partial government shutdown.  Members of the CNY Solidarity Coalition and the Syracuse Peace Council want their elected Senators and Congress-members to know where they stand. 

The group held signs.  One read, “Money for jobs and education; NOT for the wall and deportation."  The CNY Solidarity Coalition’s Peter McCarthy hopes their messages will be heard and taken to Washington.

NY Senate GOP Votes Down Democrats Gun Control Measures; Sen. Schumer: "Package Ready by Week's End"

The leader of the New York State Senate Democrats says she’s disappointed that her Republican colleague voted down a package of gun control measures that Democrats brought to the floor Wednesday. Andrea Stewart-Cousins says she was initially optimistic.

Just before the foot of the bridge on US Route 11 North that crosses over the New York State Canal in Brewerton where drivers are about to leave Onondaga County and magically cross over into Oswego County on the other side is a park you might miss the entrance to. That’s because there is no official entrance.

A popular craft brewery in Armory Square hopes to bottle its beer for the first time in its 20-year history with an expanded farm and bottling facility in Cazenovia.   Empire Brewing Company owns 22 acres of land off Route 13, and wants to grow the hops and barley there to make more beer in order to meet increasing demand.

Senator Chuck Schumer stopped by Syracuse to urge the owners of three abandoned gas stations at a key gateway to work with the city to sell or redevelop the properties.  All three are at the corner of East Brighton Ave. and East Seneca Turnpike.  The one at 1001 E. Brighton has been vacant for 15 years.

The two other properties are across the street at 962 E. Brighton Ave. and 571 E. Seneca Turnpike, which are seen behind Sen. Schumer.
