Congress member John Katko from Upstate New York is the first republican to say he’ll back the impeachment effort against Donald Trump by the House.  The attack on the Capitol led the former federal prosecutor to reverse support for the President.

Katko said in a release that as a prosecutor, he looked at the facts and couldn’t ignore President Trump’s role in the January 6th attack.

Congressmember John Katko feels the Republican National Convention offered hope and promise for the country in the face of significant challenges and deep division.  He watched the final night remotely because he didn’t believe the large gathering should have been held during a pandemic. Katko says his voting record shows that he doesn’t always agree with the President, but adds that Democrats are swinging too far left and negative.

Central New York Congress members from opposite sides of the political aisle have a lot of similar ideas about how to help the country deal with the ongoing COVID pandemic.  Democrat Anthony Brindisi and Republican John Katko are both concerned about the financial troubles cities are in.  Brindisi says local communities have struggled because of how long things have been shut down.
