Syracuse Takes on Georgia Tech Saturday

Feb 21, 2020

Syracuse’s NCAA Tournament dreams were shattered on Wednesday night not because they lost on the road to Louisville, but because just hours later NC State upset Duke.

The Orange (14-12,7-8) could have kept treading water even with a loss to Louisville as long as they took care of business in their final five games against some of the ACC’s weakest teams.

Syracuse Welcomes Last Place Wake Forest

Feb 7, 2020

After a week off, Syracuse hoops will host Wake Forest in the Dome Saturday night. Scheduled for an 8p.m. tipoff, the match-up will feature a Syracuse team that still has March Madness tournament hopes and a Wake team that sits last in the ACC standings.

The Orange now 13-9 overall and 6-5 in the conference are currently wedged in the middle of the ACC standings surrounded by nine other teams that are all within a couple games of each other.

Syracuse Upsets #18 Virginia

Jan 11, 2020

Saturday evening Syracuse hoops notched their biggest win so far this season with a 63-55 overtime victory over 18th ranked Virginia.

As expected, both teams displayed their slow and methodical offenses complemented by disciplined and hard-nose defense. At times the rock fight of a game looked more like a noon Big 10 football game than it did a basketball game.

Syracuse Basketball Picks Up First Win Over Colgate

Nov 13, 2019

In the team's first out of conference test of the young season, Syracuse picked up its first victory of the year against Colgate, 70-54.

Reaching the 70-point plateau was a welcome sight to Orange fans who watched the team struggle in the season opener against Virginia, mustering just 34 points.

After a tight first half, the Orange blew the game open in the second frame, opening the half on a 24-9 run.

Buddy Boeheim and Elijah Hughes each knocked down three shots from beyond the arc, scoring 17 and 14 respectively to lead the Orange.

For the third consecutive game, Syracuse (3-5, 0-4) was toppled by an ACC foe, falling this week to Florida State (4-4, 3-3), 35-17.

The Syracuse offense struggled yet again, mustering just three points through the first three quarters. Two fourth quarter rushing scores helped the box score, but the passing game amounted for just 151 yards. The beleaguered offensive line allowed another seven sacks which will do little to silence their critics especially after  grad transfer Ryan Alexander left the team earlier this week.

The eleventh ranked Orange were fired up and ready to go as they entered their tilt with in-state rivals, Cornell. After dropping two games to the Big Red last season (one regular season game, one NCAA tournament game), ‘Cuse had a lot to fight for. However, devoted fans of the Orange may have had their minds on a much more historic Syracuse-Cornell matchup. Nearly 10 years ago, Syracuse and Cornell competed for the National Championship. That game would see the Orange complete arguably the greatest comeback in NCAA Men’s Lacrosse history and capture their eleventh title since 1971.

Orange Retain Kraus-Simmons Trophy in Blowout Fashion

With hardware on the line and the bleachers full at Boswell Field, Hobart made it evident early that they were not to be intimidated by the 11th ranked team in the country. That was until Syracuse went on a 12-0 run to cap off a 17-5 blowout of the Hobart Statesmen, in the 105th meeting between the two schools.

Hobart opened the contest with a relentless attack giving Cuse all they could handle. It appeared that the Orange were going to have their hands full when Syracuse native, Derrek Madonna, put Hobart up 2-1 halfway through the first quarter.

Chance to Set the Record Staight, Cuse Hosts #13 Army

Feb 22, 2019

For the fifth year in a row, the Orange will play three consecutive games versus New York schools to start the season. Through two games, the Orange is 1-1 after a surprise hiccup against unranked Colgate that came before they pummeled #14 Albany.

That now behind them, the 17th ranked Orange (1-1) will have an opportunity to boast a winning record, before their first conference game vs. Virginia, with a win over #13 Army (3-0) Sunday at 4:00.

Syracuse Orange Men’s Basketball (4-2) looks to build on its strong road upset of Ohio State earlier this week when it faces the Cornell Big Red (4-3) at the Carrier Dome Saturday night.  While the Orange boast a 38 game series win streak against Cornell, this game will have plenty of intrigue as it will feature a Boeheim family reunion.

A minute into overtime, Syracuse midfielder Sergio Salcido was lying on the field in Chapel Hill after being shoved from behind by a North Carolina player.

A few seconds later, the 5'7" senior put a laser into the back of the net to capture win number ten for Syracuse.

His gritty play sums up the whole game for the Orange, who fought back from a late deficit to stun #17 North Carolina 12-11.
