Governor Cuomo all but ignored his primary opponent during a campaign rally Monday in Syracuse, and instead continued to rail against the Trump administration.  It was part of a final swing across upstate New York ahead of Thursday's primary against actress and activist Cynthia Nixon.

It’s no secret what the main tactic will be for Republican Governor’s candidate Marc Molinaro this year.  During a visit in Syracuse Thursday, he raised numerous examples, linking Andrew Cuomo with ethics problems and corruption.  The question remains whether that can unseat the two-term governor.

Former Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner has decided to run for New York Governor after all.  The New York Times was first to report her independent campaign on Monday.  Since last fall, Miner had said she was mulling a run for governor or Congress but hadn't made a decision.

A new report released Wednesday by the State Comptroller shows that Central New York’s post-recession economy remains in a state of transition when factoring in unemployment, poverty and large employers moving out.  However, there are bright spots including a workforce of young adults who attended college locally, a technically experienced workforce, and a lower cost of living.  Tom DiNapoli has been focused on auditing economic development programs such as Start-Up New York and others which aims to lure new companies and create new jobs. He says there’s room for improvement.

Pat Hogan has decided to end his run for Syracuse Mayor.  The move comes less than a week after he took second place in a three-way democratic primary against incumbent Stephanie Miner and Alfonso Davis. 

Hogan's decision also means he won't be running on the Republican ticket.  Here's the statement he released today:

Syracuse’s Democratic state lawmakers say Mayor Stephanie Miner has been a tireless advocate of Syracuse and a close partner in government. 

Assemblymembers Bill Magnarelli and Sam Roberts, plus Senator Dave Valesky endorsed Miner’s campaign for re-election today in front of H.W. Smith school.  The building is the last to be renovated under phase one of the massive Joint Schools Construction Project.  Bill Magnarelli says Miner made sure legislation for phase two made it through the legislature:

Syracuse Mayoral Candidate Pat Hogan says the city is less safe than it was four years ago.  He unveiled his ten point plan for public safety on Monday vowing to make city neighborhoods safer.

Mayoral Candidate and Common Councilor Pat Hogan says Syracuse needs to watch out that it doesn’t go the way of bankrupt Detroit.  Hogan released a series of ideas today to raise revenue, create jobs and consolidate government to get the city on better financial footing.

Three new city homes have been introduced in the Syracuse community today as part of an open house event on park avenue.  

The new, inexpensive houses for first-time home buyers have replaced the 26 derelict rental units taht used to occupy the space.  Mayor Stephanie Miner and local non-profit organization Home Headquarters led the welcoming ceremony. Miner says the change from rental units to domestic housing makes all the difference...
