Gov. Cuomo Announces Completion of Syracuse-Rome Drone Corridor

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo stopped in Syracuse Tuesday to anounce the completion of a 50-mile Drone Corridor between Syracuse and Rome.  But what is a Drone Corridor?

Microsoft has chosen Syracuse to be home to its first Smart Cities technology hub in the northeast.   It would be one of the next big pieces of the Syracuse Surge project to revitalize the neighborhoods just south of downtown.  City officials discussed the partnership Thursday with common councilors.

About 135 businesses have officially been created since the Syracuse Tech Garden opened to offer free office space and business support.  The high-tech space is marking its 10th Anniversary today with a full day of events and giving entrepreneurs the opportunity to network. Judges also listened to the next regional start-ups pitch their ideas for cash awards.

  Syracuse's Tech Garden had a good problem on its hands - too many entrepreneurs who wanted to use the start-up space.  So Tuesday they announce an expansion.  Innovation Vice President Seth Mulligan at Centerstate CEO helps run the Tech Garden...he says they had a 24-month backlog of people wanting to get in.

Tucked away in the Delavan Art Center are a couple of workshop areas for those who want to create something out of handcrafted wood, metal designs or 3D design and modeling.  Aspiring woodcrafters or high-tech sculptors can learn it all from instructors - all in one place developed by a Syracuse University Alum.
