Progressive politics clash with Trump policies with Democratic Socialism on ballot

CNY Decides presented by WAER Syracuse Public Media and Central Current

A visit it Syracuse by President Donald Trump was meant to boost Congressional candidate Kailee Buller and Gubernatorial hopeful Bruce Blakeman. It also unleashed criticism and insults at progressive candidates. Meanwhile many people running for office espouse Democratic Socialist ideas, some aligning with the party.

On this episode of CNY Decides, Central Current's Patrick McCarthy returns to discuss this clash of ideals. He shares thoughts about the Trump visit, and whether it gave GOP candidates a boost. We also cover just how far socialism has come as a principle to guide public policy, and whether people will accept the historically controversial term.

CNY Decides is a joint voter-education project of WAER Syracuse Public Media and Central Current.
