As the crisis in Ukraine unfolds, New York State’s Attorney General cautioned consumers and businesses of residual impacts.
According to news a release from her office, Attorney General Letitia James warned of potential price gouging at the gas pump and risks to online systems.
"I encourage anyone who has experienced issues concerning the price gouging of fuel or threats to cybersecurity to contact my office,” James said in the release.
She urged the public to document the date and location of any price gouging and keep sales receipts and capture photos of advertised prices. Businesses and consumers should also take steps to protect their online accounts, such as enabling two-step verification and setting complex passwords.
