NY state and congressional primaries moved to late August

New York’s state senate and congressional primary elections will be pushed to August 23rd. A judge ordered the change Friday afternoon.

New York’s highest court threw out the congressional and state senate maps this week. It ruled that they were gerrymandered to benefit Democrats. Other primary elections will still be held in late June. This includes races for governor and state assembly.

But, the judge did note that the state legislature could move the date to coincide with the August primaries. A third party expert has been charged with redrawing the lines by May 20.
