Sens. Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand announce Central New York and the Mohawk Valley earned nearly $3 million from the U.S. Department of Labor.

The money will be used to launch first-of-its-kind job training and apprenticeship programs and will focus on the needs of local employers and individuals with disabilities. These programs will target high-growth fields such as manufacturing, information technology, health care, social assistance and finance.

The initiative will focus on high-demand fields and span nine counties, including Oneida and Madison.
