Remembrances across Central New York mark 21 years since 9/11

More than two decades after terrorists crashed planes into the World Trade Centers, Onondaga County residents are remembering the nearly 3,000 victims.

The Syracuse Fire Department is holding a ceremony that starts at 8:30 a.m. at Fayette Firefighter Park. There will be a moment of silence from 8:46 a.m. until 9:03 a.m. representing the times between the first and second plane crashes.

The town of Dewitt is holding a memorial at the city Town Hall at 2:00 p.m. as an opportunity to come together as a community.

Lincoln Hills Farm in Canandaigua is having its Patriots Day from 3:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. There will be appearances by the local fire and police departments from 3:00 until 7:00. Live music will be played throughout the event. The cost to attend the event is $10.

The Cicero Fire Department is holding its memorial at Eastwood Firefighter Memorial Park from 8:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

In Tioga and Broome counties, War Merchants Day is holding a walk at 11:00 a.m. and noon.

The Pain of 9/11 Runs Deep Anti-War Action plans to hold an event on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Hancock Field.
