Syracuse-area State Sen. John Mannion’s district staff are now trained to use Narcan. Mannion hosted a Narcan clinic for his team and members of the public last week. Narcan is a opioid overdose reversal drug that can easily be administered.

Mannion said in a statement that new resources from the state government must complement efforts to train as many people as possible in the use of Narcan if we are to reverse the deadly upward trajectory of opioid addiction. According to the Prevention Network, Onondaga County had 186 overdose deaths in 2021, compared to 156 in 2020.
