Update 10:19 p.m.: Early results for sheriff, Common Council
It’s a tight race for Onondaga County Sheriff but unofficial returns from early and absentee voting show Democrat Toby Shelley has a slight lead.
The Onondaga County Board of Elections website shows Shelley with about 52% of the vote to Republican Esteban Gonzalez’s 48%.
In the race for Syracuse’s 5th Common Council District, Democrat Jimmy Monto has a significant lead over Republican Woody Carroll with 81% of the vote.
Update 10:16 p.m.: Hochul off to hot start in gubernatorial race.
Incumbent Governor Hochul has about 61% of the vote. On the other side, Republican Lee Zeldin has about 38% of the vote.
Update 9:50 p.m.: Early unofficial numbers coming in.
Early unofficial election returns show Democrat Francis Conole with an early lead over Republican Brandon Williams in the race for the 22nd Congressional District.
The New York State Board of Elections website shows Conole with about 56% of the vote, which does not yet include in-person ballots cast on Election Day. Meanwhile, the state site shows Williams with about 41%.
Update 9:31 p.m.: Supporters of Brandon Williams are streaming in to the Republican watch party.
Update 9:27 p.m.: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wins reelection.
Update 9:21 p.m.: Candidates are arriving for the Democratic watch party.
Update 9:01 p.m.: Charles Schumer wins reelection to U.S. Senate from New York.
Update 9:00 p.m.: Polls have closed in New York.
