Federal funding to combat air pollution is on the way

Federal funding is coming to Central New York to help monitor and eradicate air pollution in marginalized communities.

The Onondaga Lake Cleanup Corp will receive $465,367 from the Inflation Reduction Act and American Rescue Plan to create a community-based education and outreach campaign.

Accessible air quality data will be available through a web-based dashboard that residents and communities can use to promote healthy living and advocate for solutions. New York's U.S. Sens. Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand helped secure about $3.3 million in federal aid for projects statewide.
