A system outage early Wednesday morning at the Federal Aviation Administration temporarily grounded flights across the country and affected more than two dozen planes out of Syracuse.

The Syracuse Regional Airport Authority said five flights were canceled and 22 more were delayed because of the complication.

Most flights returned to their scheduled times by 9 a.m., but according to the Syracuse Regional Airport Authority, some flights at bigger airports were further delayed.

Despite the outage, the airport's facilities remained open and operational. The airport urges flyers to confirm flight times or any possible changes with their airline, as the outage may have affected their departure time.

The airport has been updating its social media as it gets more information.
