The price of home sales in Central New York is rising compared to last year.

The median selling price for last month was $177,000. The price was up $7,000 from last January.

“We anticipate this growth to continue at a more moderate pace than the previous two years,” said Nancy Quigg, president of the Greater Syracuse Association of Realtors.

The jump came despite a slow start to the year in the housing market. The amount of closed sales last month was a 37.9% decline from January of the year before, according to the realtor association.

Quigg said that she anticipates this year's market resembling pre-pandemic markets more than 2021 and 2022.

Even with fewer deals closed, the amount of home listings is up 12.3% from last year.
