One of Central New York’s most popular live stage entertainment venues in Syracuse is finalizing the search for its next executive director.
Redhouse Arts Center Interim Director Bill Hider said the applicant field has been narrowed down to the elite to replace former director Samara Hannah, who moved out of town for another role.
“Well, we formed a search committee before she left," Hider said. "And we put some advertisements out nationally, we received about 40 applications over 40. Most of whom were really not qualified, but just job seekers.”
Hider said the board has now identified the final two applications and he feels the board is on track for interviews in about a week. That means the Redhouse could be making an announcement about its next executive director by the end of the month. But Hider said the hiring process isn't slowing down their slate of upcoming shows.
“We already have the season plan for this year through June. And it's all cast, the plays are cast—so that's done. We're working on next year," he said.
The final show of the current season at the Redhouse is “The Bridges of Madison County” May 12-21.
