The East Syracuse Minoa Central School District installed a new weapons detection system at its high school after a racist threat of violence.

ESM Superintendent Donna DeSiato posted to social media on Monday a photo of the newly installed concealed weapons detection system.

The new form of security comes after a student received an anonymous, racist threat, which indicated a violent event would occur on Monday, according to a letter DeSiato sent to parents and families in the district. The school moved classes online as a result.
