Governor Kathy Hochul recently issued a State Disaster Emergency by signing an Executive Order as the New York continues to respond to the monkeypox outbreak. It extends who can administer the vaccine including pharmacists, EMS personnel and mid-wives.
The executive order also requires providers report vaccine data to the State Department of Health.
Data shows New York state leads the nation in cases, with one in four cases of monkeypox in the U.S. coming from the state.
