Median home prices in the Syracuse region are way up — the figure has jumped about 19% over the last year. But competition for homes may be decreasing. Lynnore Fetyko, CEO of the Greater Syracuse Association of Realtors, said bidding wars are a lot less common these days.

“It is not what it was last year at this time,” Fetyko said. “However, it is still a very active real estate market."

She said that’s keeping realtors plenty busy.

“Due to the fact that there are still multiple offers and escalation clauses within offers that need to be handled by professionals," Fetyko said.

Housing inventory has improved since the tight market over the summer, Fetyko said. But buyers may still find challenges depending on the neighborhood they’re interested in.
