The project involved major excavation of one mile of downtown streets.

New high-speed I-81 interchanges are now open, permanently shifting Syracuse commutes and marking a major milestone before the downtown viaduct comes down.

After three years, the NYS DOT reopened a high-speed ramp from I-481 southbound to I-81 southbound.

Pieces of the project are falling into place, including new ramps and bridges.

Most of the first five contracts have met the 15 percent local hiring goal from select Syracuse zip codes.

The work takes place Monday and Tuesday during daylight hours.

The state is proposing historic murals for retaining walls along Business Loop 81.

The NYS DOT will have 40 renderings at the Institute of Technology at Syracuse Central on E. Adams St. from 6 to 8 pm.
