Drivers navigating the various construction zones related to the I-81 project can now get updates in real time. The state department of transportation Thursday launched the I-81 Connect free mobile app to keep commuters connected to everything related to the project. DOT Commissioner Marie Therese Dominguez said it can come in handy before heading to or from work.

“If you want to avoid road delays or closures, tap the app. You're going to receive push notifications on traffic alerts and important project updates," Dominguez said. "You got questions for the 81 team, tap the app. Maybe you're interested in a job, maybe you want to come to work on the project itself. Tap the app.”

Construction is underway on several parts of the project, with more to come. Drivers will contend with numerous construction zones through at least 2028.
