New York Attorney General Letitia James responded to a Mississippi anti-abortion law in front of the SupremeCourt by proposing New York establish a dedicated abortion fund for women in states that lack access to reproductive healthcare.

“Mississippi and other conservative-led states have declared an all-out war on women and their bodies, but New York cannot sit idly by as, one-by-one, these states try to take us backwards in time,” said Attorney General James.

The proposed fund would cover travel to New York, accommodations, and the abortion procedure for women who live in states that try to outlaw or severely limit abortion. According to the Guttmacher Institute, there are currently 17 state that have laws in place that automatically ban abortion if Roe is overturned.
