Travelers flying out of Syracuse will have to continue to mask up even as the state relaxed its rules on face coverings.

The CDC extended the federal mandate to wear coverings at transportation hubs and while using public transit through at least April 18.

This means transportation officers at Syracuse’s Hancock Airport will continue to enforce the directive.

But in the next month, federal health officials plan to revisit the policies. The framework will likely be based on national data, the risk of new variants and the level of COVID-19 cases in communities.
