The City of Syracuse will partner with the Manufacturers Association of Central New York, or MACNY, to create a new software developer apprenticeship. The program will focus on attracting and training community members, and is part of the City’s larger workforce development strategy.

Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh believes the new program will attract new employees to the technology trades and grow the region’s digital workforce.

“We know this program will open up even more employment opportunities for local residents, while helping the City meet its workforce needs,” said Laury Ferguson, MACNY Director of Apprenticeship and Workforce Development.

The Syracuse Common Council approved the partnership back in December 2020. This is the city’s first registered apprentice in the software developer trade.

Yoki Tang was raised in a big city of China called Shanghai. He speaks Mandarin, Korean and English. His majors are Broadcast Digital Journalism and Selective Study In Education and would be graduated in May 2023. The desire to get the facts right and the quest for accurate facts made Yoki want to study broadcast and journalism in the first place.
