An agreement has been reached on a deal to build the Buffalo Bills a new home stadium.

Gov. Kathy Hochul, Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz and the pro-football franchise announced their deal to be finalize plans by September 1. The new stadium will be constructed on property adjacent to the existing Highmark Stadium. New York State, under the agreement, will contribute $600 million while Erie County will kick in $250 million.

Poloncarz said the Bills and National Football League will contribute the remainder, including any unexpected cost increases.

We have cost certainty with regards to Erie County and New York State because the Buffalo Bills will be responsible for all cost overruns, unless such cost overruns are created as a result of the inaction or action by county government or state government. Don't anticipate that to happen, because we are going to get this deal done and all the items that are required and associated with it.

In addition, the Bills commit to a 30-year lease. Poloncarz said the stadium construction project will include 10,000 union labor and trades jobs.
