Goodbye library late fees in Onondaga County

You won't have to worry anymore about paying a fine for returning books and other materials late to an Onondaga County Public Library. County Executive Ryan McMahon announced that there will no longer be late fees at the county's libraries.

Additionally, almost $283,000 in overdue materials borrowed by 26,000 people has been waived. The fines represent less than 0.3% of the 2022 operations budget.

McMahon said in his announcement that waiving these fees will give all members of the community an opportunity to take full advantage of the Public Library system.

Fees will still apply if items are lost or damaged.
