The Syracuse women’s softball team saw their season end this week. The Orange lost by a run to the county’s second-ranked team, Virginia Tech on Thursday.

But the team still has a lot to celebrate — they made it to the quarterfinals of their conference tournament, beating Louisville in the first round. The Orange had never won a game in the ACC Tournament in their first five appearances. To get there this year, they went on a three-game winning streak last weekend. They swept the North Carolina Tar Heels in front of their biggest crowds of the season at Skytop Softball Stadium.

The Orange finished with 26 wins overall, the team’s most in four seasons under head coach Shannon Doepking.
