A 13 year-old student at Syracuse’s Ed Smith School has been charged with criminal possession of a weapon after the student brought a gun to school. The firearm was recovered without incident after a parent alerted the school sentry to the possibility that the 8th grader had possession of it.
Superintendent Jaime Alicea says it’s deeply concerning that a student this age not only had access to a weapon but feels it was OK to carry it with him to school.
