The State Education Department has cancelled the US history and Government regents test statewide over concerns it could add to the trauma from the mass shooting in Buffalo.
In a message to school administrators, officials say it’s not appropriate to administer the exam with a question that could compound the grief and hardship faced by school communities. The message didn’t specify what content posed the concern.
Ten people, all of them black, were killed in a racially motivated shooting at a Buffalo Tops store on May 14.
