The Transportation Security Administration is offering a $2,000 hiring bonus to bring on more agents at Syracuse Hancock International Airport. New employees that join by the end of September will receive $1,000 at the start and the rest after one year.

The announcement precedes a series of job fairs TSA is participating in this summer to boost staffing. The agency said it expects to see a greater volume of passengers this upcoming season.

TSA is hiring both full- and part-time officers that are responsible for conducting daily passenger and luggage screenings, a news release said. Applicants do not need previous experience security or law enforcement, the release said.

The TSA will hold a hiring event next month at the Syracuse airport. The agency is also attending a June 22 virtual job fair focused on hiring women and a U.S. Department of Labor virtual event on June 28.
