The American Heart Association of Syracuse teamed up with the local construction industry on Thursday night to host the fourth Hard Hats with Heart.

The event held at the Hilton at Destiny U.S.A. raised $75,000. The money will be used to help fight heart disease and stroke. A higher prevalence of cardiovascular disease was found in construction industry workers.

The event was led by volunteer Al Marzullo who is an AHA advisory board member and Business Manager and Financial Secretary for IBEW Local 43.

John Smith has been waking up WAER listeners for a long time as our Local Co-Host of Morning Edition with timely news and information, working alongside student Sportscasters from the Newhouse School.
