Jamie Cheney is one of two Democrats running for the nomination to represent the 19th Congressional district. She is touting fundraising numbers for the last quarter given her late entrance into the race in mid-May. Cheney says her campaign has around $430,000 on hand going into July. She credits this in-part to a boost in contributions made after the Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade.

"We already had solid momentum, we saw an even bigger bump. And I think that that bump was around a feeling that we needed new voice and we needed a voice that understood the damage that was being done.”

Cheney’s primary opponent is Josh Riley. Riley has over $790,000 on hand.

The winner of the August 23rd primary will go on to face Republican Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro in November. The 19th District is rated as one of the most competitive in the country.
